Percussion 8: Section 85
Instructor: Ms. Kay   
The mission of the Performing Arts Exploratory Classes is to develop student creativity and performance abilities in order to effectively communicate to others through music and/or drama and to help students become knowledgeable consumers of the arts. Classes are designed to meet the Illinois State Fine Arts Standards and to work toward 21st Century Fluencies of Creative Fluency, Solution Fluency and Collaboratioin Fluency. Grades will be based mostly on performance (teacher assessed and student self-assessment) but will also include written assignments and assessments.

Percussion: Students will read, perform, improvise, and compose melodies and rhythms from traditional notation and through aural learning methods characteristic of many cultures. Students will learn the proper technique of a wide variety of pitched and unpitched percussion instruments. Students will learn about and play music from various cultures. Emphasis will be placed on working collaboratively to create music together.
